Matthew Shapiro replied to Sébastien Damart's discussion What about translating Follett's books?
"I think this is important, Sebastien. In addition to fostering accessibility via language, it would also provide an opportunity to re-introduce Follett's work in new editions (assuming that print media still has a place in the world!). Perhaps…"

What about translating Follett's books?

Dear all,To my knowledge, Follett's books have not been translated in French or Spanish or other languages (except japanese?). Especially in France (which is of course the context I know very well), translating Follett would probably be very helpful to disseminate Follett's ideas. One of my phD Student (who is also a member of the MPF network) will probably need to work on translating part of Follett's writings. I am also involved in a project with other members of the network, in which we will…See More

Sébastien Damart replied to GROUTEL's discussion WHAT ARE, FOR YOU, THE MOST IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTIONS OF MPF IN MANAGEMENT AREA ?
"Dear Emmanuel, For me, if I had to answer to your question with only one word, it would be "leadership" BUT it is not possible to understand the follettian leadership without understanding the whole conceptual edifice: integration -…"

Follett in John F. Kennedy's writing ?

When I went in the USA last year, I bought the book "A nation of immigrants" by John F. Kennedy (I did not know this text; maybe it is well known in the USA?). I am currently reading this book and I really feel some Follettian ideas in it.Page 8, by talking about the motives and the forces that "triggered this massive immigration", Kennedy wrote: "Every immigrant served to reinforce and strengthen those elements in American society that had attracted him in the first place. The motives of some…See More

What brings you to Follett?
Readings about management basics. My pHD was about what is called in France "concertation" which has no english translation; one possible equivalent could be "participative decision-making". I have heard few things about Follett's concept of integration. I decided to go further . Since I began to read Follett's writtings, my whole vision of participative decision-making has been completely renewed.

Sebastien, good day! I humbly submit 10 pages of my script. This performance was originally written for an audience that does not know Follett but I believe it is still relevant and will evoke learning and inspiration in the conference attendees. Please let me know if there is anything else you need. Thank you so much for the opportunity to submit this.

Humbly and gratefully, Lecia
