Unity, not uniformity, must be our aim. - MPF

I notice there have been several new discussion threads started in 2010 including several in July. I have every notification checked in my settings page, but I only seem to receive mails from MPF-Ning when Matthew (or other) sends a private message.

Am I missing something ?

Doh! - Got it. I see there is a separate "follow" button on the forum page which is independent of the notification settings - I think they call that a "feature"

Hi Ian...

I have the same concern... but I have not found your "follow" button....

so far, I only receive updates on a discussion to which I have already contributed... but as far as i can see there is no way to be notified of "new" discussions...

Well, I never did find the "follow" button, but I did find on Firefox, under "bookmarks" an option called "subscribe to this page", using something called "live feeds". Not sure whether that will generate an e-mail or not whenever there is a new topic, but I am trying it!

AHHH! Now i went back to the main forums page, and found the more general "follow" button (I had been looking for it on the MAIN page earlier...GOT IT!!!

now I'm still curious about what the "subscribe" option will do!

I'm a Chrome user rather than Firefox Rosa, but I would guess that subscribe option applies, only works, when pages actually have feeds (ie they publish RSS versions). Something I'm investigating as part of linking together a number of discussion fora, which are otherwise independent communities.

Conversely I've noted that Ning itself does not publish feeds .... pity.
