The Mary Parker Follett Network

Unity, not uniformity, must be our aim. - MPF

Hi All - I just came across this obituary for Albie Davis. Apparently she passed away in late April. She was a leading voice for bringing attention to Follett's work and philosophy over the past few decades. https://www.davisofboston.com/obituary/Albie-Davis

Oh Matthew... SO sorry to hear this....
thank you for sharing it...

This is Albie's page in this group, including some of the conversation she engaged in with other members of the network. https://mpfollett.ning.com/profile/AlbieMDavis

Thanks, Rosa. Albie was one of the first Follettines I interacted with in the late 1990s, and she was the 4th member of this network.

Matthew and all,

I developed a relationship with Albie as well. I attended her memorial service in Jamaica Plains (Boston) a couple of weeks ago. Her daughter asked me to attend and to offer some Follett readings. I was honored to do this.

One of the conversations I would like to have at some point is related to Albie's contributions and collection of Follett-related materials as well as books. Her daughter sent me most of Albie's "collection" when Albie moved to a senior living facility. She did not know what to do with her mother's "stuff" and Albie had invited me before to come see what she had collected. It's quite rich.

While in Boston, I made a visit to the Schlesinger Library at Radcliffe/Harvard to learn about how they curate collections and to begin an exploration of "where" could all of Follett's items be held in one place? I also would love to look at the collection Joan Tonn donated to this library after she completed the biography.

Albie was a remarkable human in all the ways that matter. Her memorial was inspiring.

Suzanne - It's wonderful that you were able to be there. I wonder if a discussion about Albie Davis might be a good topic for a Follett Talk (planned series of monthly online presentations that the Mary Parker Follett Foundation is planning to start hosting very soon).

Re. materials, I have thought that the library you visited would be the right place for some kind of special collection available to visitors. Keep us posted on what you learn about the process.

Best regards,

Matthew
