What brings you to Follett?
I am a student of Public Administration. I am fascinated by her ideas of conflict resolution, giving orders, law of the situation. I feel all her ideas are more relevant today than her times. Her ideas are more transparent and truly democratic way of dealing with things. I am joining this forum to know more about her ideas and apply to real life situations.

Thank you.

Hello Srikanth reddy,

Your answer to: What brings you to Follett? reveals that, as a 24 year old youth from India, you have as much or more to teach us about Follett as you have to learn.  I'd be interested in hearing which of her ideas you find most compelling!

I'm attaching a spiral which Mary Parker Follett used in her workshops alongside her friend and physician, Richard Cabot.  It appeared in a book by Cabot, The Meaning of Right and Wrong, (1936)  I like her step c) in the Elements in Cooperative Growth:  (c) they evoke each other's power to think and to act, because they strike sparks from each other.  Yet another example of her sense that "All polishing is done by friction," thus a new way to interpret "conflict."

Warmly, Albie Davis (Maine, USA, albiedavis@aol.com)
